Reminder IIBA Meeting tonight as Wal-Mart home office

The regular monthly meeting of the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) will be held Thursday, April 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wal-Mart David Glass Technology Center, True North Conference Center.

The presentation will be:

“The IIBA Certification Process to Obtain the CBAP®”, Annette Coody, Senior Business Analyst, Wal-Mart, Inc.
The CBAP® (IIBA BA certification) is a bit daunting. The application process requires that you thoroughly document that you really do have more than five years of business analysis experience, and then there’s the exam itself. This is very important because we, as a profession, want the certification to be meaningful and strong because we know that simply memorizing a bunch of BA terms and techniques does not make a person a Business Analyst. Annette will describe the application and exam processes for those interested in pursuing certification.

About Annette Coody:
Annette is a Senior Business Analyst for Wal-Mart ISD specializing in Transportation Systems. She has over 25 years of experience in logistics, and is the NWA IIBA Chapter Vice-President of Education.

The NWA IIBA Chapter has been chartered since 2008, and held its first meeting on October 2, 2008, at the Wal-Mart campus in Bentonville, AR. The Chapter meets on the first Thursday of every month, and alternates locations between the Wal-Mart campus in Bentonville, AR, and the Tyson World Headquarters in Springdale, AR.

You can contact the NWA IIBA at info@nwa.theiiba.org.

This months meeting was moved back to the first Tuesday to facilitate a special presentation from Chris Koenig, Lap Around the Live Framework and Mesh Services.

Learn about the Live Framework, our latest offering for developers programming against our Live Services from any device, platform, runtime, or programming language. See new and future services (such as Mesh Services), protocols, APIs, and tools which enable your web, service, or client applications to access, store, and synchronize user data with Live Services, obtain audience analytics data, and more

Jeff Mullins, Associate Director of the Masters of Information System at the University of Arkansas, will also be talking about Continuing Education in Information Technology in the Lightning Round.

In the IT field, you have to keep learning.  Whether you keep learning because you want to, or because you have to (if you don’t, someone else will), many options exist for IT professionals to expand the breadth and depth of their skill sets.  This presentation will explore several different options for continuing education in the IT field, including self-learning, traditional training, conferences, and a couple of interesting part-time graduate school programs.
